Type Notes
Spijkerman (1978: 86-87, no.69) publishes an example in which he identifies a crescent moon near Herennia Etruscilla's shoulders; unfortunately, there is no illustration for that entry.
The 'Actia Dusaria' were games held at Bostra in honor of the Arabian god Dusares (or Dushara) beginning in the mid-third century CE (Bowersock 1983: 121-122), and celebrated on coins under Philip II (247-249 CE; Meshorer et al. 2013: 151, no.54), Decius (RPC IX no.2209).

COL METROPOL BOSTRON (Colonia Metropolis of the Bostrenes)
Type Notes
This obverse type is similar to (or the same as) BOS0104 and BOS0105.
BOSTRON appears to be a transliteration of the Greek ΒΟCTPWN (of Bostra) that is included on some reverse issues from the city (e.g. Meshorer et al. 2013:150, no.24). Coins of Herennius Etruscus and Hostilianus include the title COL METR BOSTRENORVM (Colonia Metropolis of the Bostrenes), making BOSTRON an unlikely transliteration of the Greek BOSTPHNWN (of the Bostrenes) which appears on the reverse of coins in the second and early third centuries (e.g. Spijkerman 1978:74-75, no.24).
The design featuring Tyche and Marsyas also appears on coins of Decius (RPC Online IX no.2215) and of Herennia Etruscilla and her son Hostilianus (Spijkerman 1978:88-89, no.71; RPC Online IX no.2219).

Type Notes

The reverse type of a bust of Zeus-Ammon was frequently used on the city's coinage from the second century CE (e.g. an example of Antoninus Pius published by Meshorer et al. 2013:149, no.10). Zeus-Ammon also appears in city as a head on coinage (e.g. Meshorer et al. 2013:149, no.4 under Hadrian) and as a full-length figure accompanied by a ram (e.g. BOS0105).
