Description

Two Greek inscriptions on the facade and lid of a limestone ossuary for Maria, identified as the wife of Alexander, "from Capua." It is not entirely clear if the Capuan is Maria or Alexander (or both). The two inscriptions contain the same information, with "wife" and the "Alexander" transposed in (b). From Jerusalem, dated to the 1st c. BCE/CE.
