Conclusions

This research has shown that throughout different types of material evidence we see common themes on how women are represented within Caesarea Maritima. Through all the coins, inscriptions, and sculpture we see that the women being shown are defined by their status and their relationship to men. Through the coin evidence you see that only images of empresses who are in positions of power through marriage. Their power is dependent on their husband as is their representation. In the inscriptions we see women of all classes represented but still defined by their husbands and their relationships to other men. Even though we have limited sculpture we see these themes also represented.
